Having all the time in the world to make something is all well and good if you have ideas to put forward, as well as a crew that’s always available.

I havn’t had the time or opportunity to do as much as I wanted to do so far. There are a few project that I have in mind for filming – this involves a music video shoot with a good friend of mine Anthony Smith “Parasol” & general filming with him for the documentary I’m making with him.

A sequel to which I talked about a few weeks ago, still in the planning stages of what I want the film to be. I do have an idea of the journey I want to take with the characters – that I’ve always been interested by silent protagonists. You have a lot of experimentation with them, a lot can be said with no words at all.

I have access to music from a great musician Eddy Kassabian, who has great talent and you can check out his profile here – . With this I have also shot some opening footage which I have included the music of Eddy’s into.

I set up events that affect them, the responses are in the visual cues and the audience responds with their own ideas and theories revolving around them. They’re not directly told, but they have a general gist of the situation. It’s like giving them the chance to feel as if they are a part of the world, the story. Instead of viewing one (which I also enjoy making too!). So there’s that.

I have also prepared first drafts for three, yes THREE short films which I am working to get finalised. These three will be shorts that I can choose to make this year, which is a nice head start. The process I usually go through is to think of an idea, write it (this includes all the necessary stages – re-writing / feedback / more re-writing / storyboards / shot-lists / ETC) to get a final shooting script. Then it’s down to Production (and all that entails). Then to Editing. Now it’s heres the idea and I can work on it, but it’s already there; it’s not me thinking of it then working on it to make it as soon as possible. I’m taking my time, and that’s valuable for the film, time to simmer, time to iron out all the creases & remove excess and keep working on how I want the film to feel and look.

Later this year I hope to return to filming the Sheffield Sharks Basketball. Back to filming more Music Videos. More content in general. Most of all even before summer is over I want to have a few more short film scripts completed. I am aiming to have a good number of them so I can be ready. + there are numerous ideas that I have yet to be written as scripts, I think I counted 17 ideas that I can write up into screenplays.

The final exciting development is for a feature that I am writing. I’ve had an idea of a film that hasn’t been made yet, or as an idea hasn’t been made. It’s my first time writing so I’m taking this experience as practice, as a learning exercise. I don’t want to talk about it yet because I don’t want to give anything away. What I can say is that next January I am hoping to create a little short film that will be the selling point for it, I will make it a separate portion from the main script to display the intention of the feature itself. By doing this I will work to pitch the film – from there I will be taking it day by day to work on it and refine until I can get somewhere with the project.
